Tapewise Update
Wednesday, 07 June 2006 09:03

FootballYes we at Tapewise are proud to be English, so "Come on England!", but I just hope it all goes great, so good luck to all the teams competing.

In other news, we have made a major change to the way Tapewise handles libraries. With the current implementation, users of Bronze can only use libraries with a maximum of 19 slots, and users of Silver can only use libraries up to 99 slots. HOWEVER from the next release, users of the Bronze and Silver level, will be able to connect to ANY library, BUT will be limited to accessing the first 19 slots for Bronze, and 99 slots for Silver.

TapewiseWe thought it was about time we tested Tapewise and really put it to the test. So we gathered our small selection of hardware (If there is anything on the list you wish to purcahse, please let us know!) and connected it all up to a single PC to see what would happen... After a couple of initial problems (looks like one of our 29160 cards went duff) we managed to get it all running together in perfect harmony. The results of this are visible via the "Downloads -> Screenshots" facility, where you can see the system pumping a grand total (grand total added for next release) of about 128mb/s over the bus using 4 HBA (2 fibre, 1HVD scsi, 1LVD scsi) on 9 different devices (and 3 loaders). We are hoping to add in the Sun T10000a drive to this as well, and see if we can make out the bus on this PC. Hope you like the screenshots!

Tapewise Update
Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:17

TapewiseIn conjunction with the new Tapewise website, we are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of Tapewise. Building on the Tapewise core, we have been adding more and more power to the SPT interfaces (native Windows IO) so that ASPI is no longer required. This new interface method seems much more stable than ASPI and also far more controlled when it comes to adding and removing devices. We have also added in the Reserve and Release commands which should allow better connectivity to online systems, and are continuing to add new devices.

Sometimes it can be hard to see some of the changes that we have made, so also for this release we have updated over 200 graphics within Tapewise!  We are still working on these and other changes to make the software easier to use, and look even better.

Please login to the ALL NEW Support Area using your DK3 number and password to download the latest version. The new Support Area will show you all your details at a glance, and allow you to open tickets regarding Tapewise or the website. The new ticket system will allow us to better support you, and for you to see us responding to you. This will be much better than using e-mails as they tend to get lost or missed, meaning we are not supporting you as we would like to. Remember that you get one full year free support when you purchase Tapewise, then it's a yearly contract with us afterwards.
