Farnborough, UK, 25th September 2007 – DPS UK Limited today announced that CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, the world's largest high-energy physics research establishment is using Tapewise Enterprise. Tapewise ensures the quality of data held on tape for the, Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which is scheduled to start operating in 2008. The data generated during the multi-year LHC project is expected to dwarf every other scientific experiment in history, amounting to an incredible 15 petabytes a year. |

 DPS are pleased to announce that Tapewise version 2.50.50 is now available for all registered clients to download from the Support area. This is a major upgrade and includes a tool to relocate user data. Please report any problems via the ticket system! |

We did promise that this was almost done, well we got held back slightly! After looking at the current help and manual for Tapewise, we decided that the latest release needed an update as well. This has taken a bit longer than anticipated, but the wait is worth it (The manual has now almost doubled in size!). At the same time all the help in Tapewise has also been upgraded with new information and screenshots. Maybe long overdue but done!
We are hoping to have the v2.50 release out this week! |

Although there has been, what seems like, and age of no updates, we have been working really hard on the latest release! So hard in fact that we are revving up to version 2.5 from the current 2.08 (although we have had private releases of 2.08.44 and 2.10.46/47 to some customers). Please read on to see some of the new features and changes. |

BOSaNOVA Inc. has recently released a video on YouTube which talks about the security of data on your tape backups. The video demostrates how easy it is to "read tape data" using a simple PC, tape drive and the Tapewise application! To prevent this from happening, any "secure" data should be encrypted with a device like Paranoia from DISUK

 Just a small note to let you know that the Tapewise site is on the new server (Hence you can read this)! However we are having a few teething problems which should be ironed out today.
(Update: still having a few issues with the newsfeeds and trial request, please keep trying!)
I'm pleased to say that all issues have now been sorted, and the site whould be working as normal :) |
